We know we have been away far too long and that you must have missed seeing your doses of literature in your inboxes. We are making a return with the most controversial American writer, who is associated with obscenity yet was in a measured opinion “elected to shame the devil and tell the truth.” You can expect Henry Miller’s stories, extracts from novels, essays and other writings in the coming weeks. The writings will be introduced in the author’s own words rather than us.

The celebrated rogue elephant of American literature is renowned for his daring novels and stories, which were way ahead of their time. It would be invidious to compare him with other American greats because for a long time his work remained unavailable to the readership in his homeland due to censorship. Yet the literary world was forced to come to terms with his genius at the appointed time because no serious reader or critic can ignore his tremendous prose-gift.
